Vision of a movie.

Woody Allen, when he does not do easy comedies, can make a brilliant job of cinematographic story-telling, at a vibrant steady pace and using good actors, for nearly the entire length of a movie and then he just clamps it in the very last minutes in the vise of fatalistic, and not even so covertly, moral endings. Like it does happen in "Irrational Man" where you can sense the threat of an impending, punishing "fatality" soon to come, which won't leave the trasgressed moral immune; the implacable and "necessary" intervention of a fatal Law, the law of the (biblical) "Father" I would say...
